National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder (NEA-BPD)

The mission of National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder is to provide education, raise public awareness and understanding, decrease stigma, promote research, and enhance the quality of life of those affected by Borderline Personality Disorder and/or related problems, including severe and chronic emotion dysregulation. This is one of the best online resources for people with BPD, family members, clinicians, and researchers. NEABPD has the largest online media library of BPD resources where one can learn about BPD.

 

McLean Hospital

One of the foremost BPD treatment programs in the country, the McLean Hospital (an affiliate of Harvard Medical School) website has numerous videos and articles by expert clinicians and researchers, and people with lived experience, as well as information on their treatment programs.

 

Borderline Personality Disorder Resource Center

Affiliated with the Personality Disorders Institute at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Westchester Behavioral Health Center, the BPDRC is led by innovators in the research and treatment of personality disorders. The BPDRC provides information about BPD symptoms, common treatment options, and resources for patients, families, and healthcare professionals. The BPDRC also maintains a database of providers nationwide with experience treating BPD and co-occurring disorders.

 

Emotions Matter!

Emotions Matter is a non-profit organization created by a network of families and individuals affected by borderline personality disorder (BPD) who have united around the  mission to improve social connection, awareness and health care systems for those with BPD. Emotions Matter offers programs, education and resources for individuals impacted by BPD, families and professionals. Their vision is to create a world in which every person with BPD has access to resources, treatment and support to achieve a meaningful recovery. What sets Emotions Matter apart from other organizations is the belief that individuals with BPD have the capacity to advocate for their recovery needs.  Those with BPD have important contributions to make to BPD research, education, and health care.

Transitions Mental Health Association

Transitions-Mental Health Association(TMHA) is a nonprofit organization promoting recovery and wellness for people with mental illness through work, housing, community and family support services. TMHA operates 27 programs at over 35 locations.
The emphasis of TMHA's many services is to teach vital independent living skills, and build a framework for community re-entry. TMHA offers housing, employment, case management and life-skills support to teens and adults with mental illness; and support,
resources and education for their loved ones.

San Luis Obispo County Behavioral Health

SLO County Behavioral Health offers mental health treatment services for SLO county citizens. They work in collaboration with the community to provide services to individuals and families affected by mental illness and/or substance abuse.

National Alliance on Mental Illness, San Luis Obispo County

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is a nonprofit, grassroots, self-help, support and advocacy organization of consumers, families, and friends of people with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder,
obsessive-compulsive disorder, and anxiety disorders. NAMI SLOCO is a non-profit organization of consumers as well as families and friends of people with severe mental illnesses. Members provide educational and emotional support for each other and
advocate for better understanding, treatment and care of people with mental illness.

Community Counseling Center

CCC provides short-term psychological counseling services and counseling information to San Luis Obispo County residents whose circumstances are not appropriate for existing public mental health resources or who cannot afford private services. Fees
are based on sliding scale according to each client's ability to pay. Persons who are financially able, through income or insurance coverage, to use private services are offered referrals. CCC provides up to ten (10) sessions of family, couple, or individual counseling for relationship issues, bereavement issues, parenting problems and life transition situations, all of which are suitable for short-term treatment.

Central Coast Autism Spectrum Center

The Central Coast Autism Spectrum Center brings together and empowers individuals, families, and professionals for the purpose of improving the quality of life of those affected by autism spectrum disorders. The center provides support and services to individuals throughout their lifetime – from early diagnosis and intervention, through pre-vocational and vocational training, to transitional services and beyond. Because autism spectrum disorders affect more than the individual diagnosed, CCASC provides support for parents, grandparents and caregivers as well as offers workshops and playgroups for siblings and families.

Tri-Counties Regional Center

Tri-Counties Regional Center provides supports and services for children and adults with developmental disabilities living in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties so that they may live fully and safely as active and independent members of our
community.

San Luis Obispo County Drug and Alcohol Services

Drug and Alcohol Services, a division of SLO County Behavioral Health, offers a variety of services and programs to help people with drug and alcohol problems, including public walk-in clinics, prevention programs, youth and adult programs, and court-mandated programs.

​

Alcoholics Anonymous Central Coast

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The site has information on AA, a meeting directory, and
other resources.

North County Connection and Links to 12-Step and other Support Groups

The North County Connection is located in Atascadero California. Grass roots driven and largely staffed by dedicated volunteers, NCC operates on the premise that treatment alone is not enough to cope with the devastation of drug and alcohol related problems. The center hosts many self-help meetings, a walk in and telephone referral service, a recovery oriented book, video, and audio library, and a safe, drug and alcohol-free place to go for support. Lumina Alliance

Lumina Alliance is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower those impacted by sexual and intimate partner violence through innovative advocacy, healing, and prevention programs. Services include 24/7 crisis and information line, case management, accompaniment and advocacy, emergency shelters, transitional housing, individual and group therapy, and prevention education.

Parent Connection of San Luis Obispo County

Parent Connection of San Luis Obispo County offers a variety of free and confidential services, including: a web-based family resource center with a current list of parenting classes and parenting support services, an information line to help parents find
appropriate classes and parenting resources in their area, and professional Parent Coaches who can answer parenting questions and provide support.
